On With The New!
Sunday, 03 January 2010

2010 promises to be another adventurous year for the Oh Yeah music centre. We have a new full-time staff position, Creative Development Co-ordinator. This post is being ably met by Charlotte Dryden. Expect a series of announcements about outreach activities and the chance to get fully immersed in our plans.
Regular events such as Scratch My Music and the all-ages Volume Control nights will continue. There will also be improvements to the building, bringing extra energy to the middle and top floors. Also in the pipeline, a phone application, authored by Oh Yeah that will take you around many of the important musical sites of Belfast. This is being delivered in partnership with Filmtrip and Belfast City Council.
2009 was a wonderful year for Oh Yeah. We opened our doors to the public and delivered a music exhibition and a bus tour. The Strummerville rehearsal rooms are equipped and rocking. The cafe is in business while our music industry tenants now include Start Together Studios, Small Town America, No Dancing, Belfast City Blues Festival and Score Draw Music. Our working relationship with Belfast Metropolitan College means that 60 students are using the building each week.
We've also worked with the Cathedral Quarter Arts Festival, the Belfast Nashville Festival, the Ulster Bank Festival at Queens, Trans, Feile, PRS and Culture Night, to name a few of many. BBC Radio Ulster's Across The Line put out a stunning webcast, live from the building while the all-ages gigs provided a platform for new bands and budding industry entrepreneurs.
