Art For Change Showcase

  • Oh Yeah Music Centre 15-21 Gordon Street Belfast United Kingdom (map)

This is a family friendly 2 hour programme in which youth will share Art For Change projects they have worked on during our ACNI funded summer programme.

Over the summer we had 28 fabulous young people joining us from the following community groups:

  • Beyond Skin

  • ALGOCHAK

  • Cairde Community Choir

  • Horn of Africa People's Aide NI

  • Sudanese Youth Group

  • NI Gujarati Community

At our showcase event, you will hear from youth who have been supported by the following amazing artist-teachers:

  • Siobhan Brown - Singer-songwriter

  • Paul Kane - Musician

  • Phil D'Alton - Musician, Producer

  • Cameron Gibson- Musician

  • Kelly Smiley - Singer

  • Nandi Jola - Poet, Writer

  • Frank Rafferty - Spoken Word Artist

  • Stephanie Arnold - Visual Artist

  • Mary McGurk - Performing Artist

  • Juanita Rea, Multidisciplinary Artist (eduSOIL Founder)

You will be inspired by our youth artivists! Hear powerful songs that say NO to Misogyny, Cyberbulling and War. Look at a beautiful painting calling for a Sectarian-Free world and a compelling book of poems and paintings that call for Girls Education. Watch a striking drama calling for Respect and a moving multimedia piece about Self-Image. Audience members are invited to give feedback that encourage our youth to continue on their Art For Change journeys!

The programme includes a display of projects for youth to share their problem-solving, design-thinking and creative practice journeys with you. You will hear about how the projects took shape over the Art For Change programme and our programme aims. Then each group will present their projects and share their artwork. Written or spoken feedback from the audience will be encouraged. Youth groups are also keen to be invited to share their projects at schools and in communities so your ideas to scale their Art For Change impact will be valued.

The programme will be recorded and uploaded to YouTube. Please take a seat at the back and inform a member of our team if you don't wish to be included in the recording.

There are 3 free tickets for family and friends of youth who participated in our programme. Members of the public can reserve a spot and make a donation (of any amount) at the door. All proceeds support our Art For Change programmes empowering underserved / underrepresented youth to take action on issues affecting their lives - through arts-based, youth-led, civic action.
