Volume Control is an award winning youth events and industry enterprise mentoring programme. The aim of the project is to support young people aged 14-18 in developing, planning, and delivering their own live music events by providing mentoring and a dedicated space, that will give them the opportunity, skills and confidence to realise their full potential.
In the process of doing this they also learn about several other elements of working in the music sector from artist liaison and booking acts, to press and promotion, stage management, sound engineering, ticketing, and more.
It is for young people with a real love for local music and gig promotion who would also like to pursue their interests of working in the events or music industries.
Recruitment of a team of up to 15 young people is once a year through an application process followed by a short informal interview. If you are a young person (or know of one) interested in the Volume Control project and you are wondering if it is for you; here are a few pointers to help:
Would you like to be part of a group of your peers that regularly meet to plan events?
Do you enjoy organising things for your friends or family?
Do you enjoy being creative and coming up with new ideas / solutions to problems?
Do you have a passion for live and local music or want to learn more about the business?
Are you keen to learn new skills and make new friends?
Do you enjoy social media or graphic design?
Are there bands or musicians you would like to see on the stage at Oh Yeah Music Centre that you have not seen perform here?
If you answered YES to any of the above, we have a place for you here at Oh Yeah Centre, either as part of Volume Control or on another great project.
