RHINOS

  • Oh Yeah Music Centre 15-21 Gordon Street Belfast United Kingdom (map)

RHINOS are an Irish two-piece rock band from Belfast. Their music is influenced by garage rock, heavy metal, dubpsychedelic rockbluespunk rockprogressive rocksouljazzexperimental rock with home-based recording, jamming approach, and unusual song structures.

RHINOS has morphed and changed in 8 years, formed by Paul Currie (ex Slight American Accent, Tart, Sinch, Hammerbat, Gay Paris & Trapper Jon) with original Sinch drummer Laura Totten in 2015. But sadly due to illness Laura had to stop drumming in 2017 and since then Paul has been trying out various Drummers. Then in Oct 2022 by a beautiful accident Brendan Scullion (NI Soul Troop) was introduced to Paul and the rest is history.

RHINOS main driving force is to keep the back line simple & low fi, as in using no peddles, no synths, just using and experimenting with vocals, drums and electric guitar to explore new sounds, song structures and rhythms, and less is always more. Their Influences would be Zappa, Savages, PJ Harvey, Fugazi, Pixies, Motörhead, Little Richard, The Who, Zeppelin, Deep Purple, White Denim, Bikini Kill & Jon Spencer’s Blues Explosion to name a few.
