GET ON IT: Jock / Cherym / SPDPK

  • Oh Yeah Music Centre 15-21 Gordon Street Belfast United Kingdom (map)

Yeo Magazine’s GET ON IT returns this July with a very special PRIDE PARTY at the Oh Yeah Centre, supported by Dunvilles Whisky.

Storming into the evening with catchy, hard-hitting riffs will be the uprising band JOCK. Expect crashing drums, basslines to match, and lyrics you’ll want to learn by heart. They’ve been making themselves known in the city after a string of support slots has people in the know raving about the next big thing, which just so happens to be their fantastic concoction of queer-garage-punk. Go stream their only two tunes on Spotify, ‘Spoilsport’ and ‘What a Drag’ to get a taste of what you're in for!

Next up, we have the power-pop-punk anthems from everyone's favourite Derry trio - CHERYM. Yeo Magazine rekindles their relationship with the trio after featuring them on their cover in 2021 and seeing Cheym’s rise continue has been amazing while fully expected. Listen to their ‘Hey Tori’ EP to prepare yourself for the absurd levels of joy and youthful energy to be blasting into your ears on the 27th of July. They’ve also a new track coming out on the 5th of July called ‘Taking Up Sports’ which we assure you be one of the best songs to come out of here this year.

Finally, we’ll have the sounds of fellow queer-punk band Gender Chores member Sophie (SPDPK) taking up the decks for a mix of electro grooves. Having graced the coveted decks at the foremost night in the queer community in the shape of PonyHawke, it’s safe to say that the dancefloor will be in incredibly exciting hands while SPDPK is in control. With a cosmic collection of grooves in all shapes and sizes, we’re over the moon to have her making her GET ON IT debut.
